Chiang Mai Hilltribe

Project description: 

This is based on the most interesting hilltribe village I visited in northern Thailand. I love how the buildings reflect the environment, skyward facing running up the entirety of the hillside, standing on massive wooden stilts. This is a limited edition print run of 8, available for purchase at the Hale School Art Exhibition, 31st July-2nd August 2009.

Laneway in Cusco, Peru

Project description: 

An exhibition of digital paintings based on experiences in Peru during 2008. This piece depicts the warmly lit laneways of Cusco. At night my tourgroup would traverse these narrow streets built on Incan foundations as we explored the city and its offerings. This is a limited edition, sold out print run of 8.

Porters

Project description: 

The porters on the Inca Trail play a significant role in the tourism industry. Apart from carrying packs with significantly more than the typical 3-5kg a tourist takes, throughout the hike you'll see them overtaking you as they power through the trail to the next campsite or snack stop. At the end of the hike everyone gathers around and your tourgroup presents them with a tip. This was a 2 print, sold out limited edition.

Fire Engulfs the Mountains

Project description: 

After hiking the Inca Trail we caught a train back to Cusco, and happened across the most shocking occurence of the trip. The mountainside, including parts we'd hiked just days before, was subject to a massive bushfire raging out of control. It was one of the most surreal things I've ever witnessed. This was a 3 print, sold out limited edition.

Walking through the lush Amazon rainforest to get to the river. With slight drizzle and mud puddles along the path gumboots were crucial. This is a limited edition print of 2, of which one is available for $260.

Puma Reed Island

Project description: 

The floating islands on Lake Titicaca housed an amazing culture. These tribes built their entire islands from reeds, which were then anchored to the riverbed and/or other reed islands. Pictured here are members of the Puma tribe, including their chief, who introduced us to their customs, diet, and methodology. This is a 3 print limited edition, of which 2 are still available for $420 ea.

Peruvian Dancers

Personal - Snapshot Exhibition on Peru

Project description: 

There were parades in the street on a regular basis when I was in Peru, and the costumes were amazing! This particular group was Incan themed with a Condor, a Puma and a group of girls followed by a band. The atmosphere was so festive and lively that I really wanted to replicate a part of this for my exhibition, which became the Peruvian Dancer set. It's a limited edition, and there are still 2 sets available of a limited 3 print edition. If interested they're $400 per set and consist of 3 individual pieces.

Flyer for the Snapshot exhibition; a joint exhibition with myself and Nick Lowe, an ex-colleague. The exhibition was comprised of pieces that covered a variety of aspects from our trips, aiming to give the viewer an insight into the countries we visited by means of our chosen media.

Kretorius - Iceberg Devourer

Personal creature concept - Iceberg Devourer

Project description: 

For these filter feeders, icebergs are a rich source of nutrients. Ice digested passes out through pores along its body, but its outer surface is so cold an icy coating develops soon after birth. This icy mass both protects and insulates the creature. Because of the high purity of the filtered coating, the Kretorius have become a commodity that're hunted and sold to drought ridden countries.

Under One Roof

Client: 

Wally Walrus and the Bananatusks

Project description: 

Under One Roof was produced for the 48hr Global Gamejam by myself and 2 programmers (Jack Casey and Brad Power) under the alias 'Wally Walrus and the Bananatusks'. It's a sim game where the aim is to get everyone to sleep by dawn, but you can only influence their actions indirectly and any noise that's made will wake up people/animals sleeping nearby. I did the art for 2 teams during Global Gamejam, but this was my primary team.

Deliverables: 

All art, animations and titlescreens were produced in one weekend.

The indie game Brown Cloud was produced for the 48hr Global Gamejam. This is the revised artwork based on my original 4hrs worth of art contribution from the actual event. I did the art for 2 games at Global Gamejam and spent most of my time working on Under One Roof.
